School teachers held a protest against the Privatization of SchoolsOKARA: A large number of teachers on Monday organized a demonstration outside the press club against what the anti-education policies of the Punjab government said.
Office participants and members of the seven teacher organizations along with the employee association participated in the protest.Representatives of these organizations, including Rai Muhammad Akbar, Gulzar Ahmad Bhatti and Mehr Mukhtar, in their speeches criticized the provincial government for delivering schools to the Punjab Education Foundation and the authority of Daanish. They demanded the withdrawal of the policy.
They also criticized the policy of punishment of teachers in the event of dropouts and poor class V and VIII results.Demonstrators demanded that the updating of teachers as promised to EST, PST and SST be notified.
In Toba Tek Singh, dozens of government school teachers organized a protest rally which is known as Grand Teacher Alliance in Punjab starting from 19-11-2016 to 22-12-2016 outside the Jhang Road press club about the Punjab government’s “apathy” for failing to meet their demands.They were singing slogans against the privatization of schools and demanding the updating of pay scales.Addressing the demonstrators, Punjab Teachers Union District President Tahir Afzal Warraich, Irshad Randhawa and others, condemned the government for transferring teachers from schools with Poor results on the V and VIII class exams.They demanded the salary scale 14 to PTC, 16 to EST and 17 to OSH teachers.They announced that if their demands were not accepted, teachers would be forced to block schools in protest
